The Moonlight Creations website is designed to showcase the work of Katherine Rourke, a photographer in Northern California.
Growing up in Hayfork California, Katherine attributes much of her style to the family values, work ethics, and passion for the environment she learned on the family's horse and cattle ranch as a child and teenager. From a young age she was deeply involved with animals and horticulture, caring for Pig and Petunia alike with the most tender of affection.
Katherine spent much of her youth traveling, touring Europe as a flautist before finally settling down in Alaska with her first husband. The experiences helped to give her new depth as an artist, but her upbringing and natural style still shines through her ability to see and show how the grandest works of man and nature are comprised of smaller pieces, often more beautiful than the whole.
Though the arts are her passion, she has spent a good deal of her life in various fields as a self-proclaimed "jill of all trades". To support herself as a single mother, Katherine worked in the lumber, clerical, and retail industries. Working and caring for her son, her artistic skills went largely unexplored during this period; with the exception of a few "moonlight pieces" created during the odd hours of night to scratch her artists itch. It is from this period that the website takes its name.
Now, several years and many worlds later, Katherine has once again returned to her family's farm to pursue her photography, music and other mediums, while taking joy in the simpler lifestyle she cherished as a young girl. Always with camera at hand, she's ever-ready to add yet another piece to the already rich tapestry that is her life.
